Non-Proliferation Control

Fourth: – Non-Proliferation Control Directorate:
The directorate shall be managed by an employee of at least the second level who holds a first university degree and has service in the field of the directorate’s work for a period of not less than 15 years.

The Directorate undertakes the following tasks:

1. Work to prevent the exploitation of Iraq’s lands, territorial waters, and the airspace above them for any activities prohibited by compliance with relevant treaties and agreements.
2. Establishing a mechanism for disposing of seized materials covered by treaties and agreements related to the work of the Commission.
3. Establishing and maintaining a national system that enables Iraq to fulfill its obligations related to international treaties and agreements related to non-proliferation.
4. Propose controls for submitting advertisements on regulated activities related to non-proliferation.
5. Accompany international inspectors and experts when they visit Iraq in accordance with agreements and treaties related to non-proliferation.
6. Monitor and analyze data received from the International Data Center of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Organization for the purpose of analyzing and identifying the nature of the event.
7. Preparing a national database for activities covered by non-proliferation treaties and agreements.
8. Follow up on Iraq’s commitment to non-proliferation treaties and agreements in a way that ensures that Iraq benefits maximum from this agreement in a way that does not conflict with its development aspirations in all fields.
9. Follow up and implement obligations related to the handling of dual-use materials.
10. Granting approvals to import, export, or re-export materials and equipment covered by non-proliferation agreements and treaties, and following up on these materials with the end user.
11. Follow up on the implementation of Iraq’s international obligations regarding the Hague Code to limit the spread of ballistic missiles.
