Equipment and Laboratories

Eighth: Directorate of Equipment and Laboratories:
The directorate shall be managed by an employee of at least the second level who holds a master’s degree and has service in the field of the directorate’s work for a period of no less than 15 years.

The Directorate undertakes the following tasks:

1. Maintaining the operation of the devices, such as (charging and repair), to ensure the continuity of the various work of the Authority and the continuous maintenance of the devices.
2.  Calibration of radiation detection devices
3. Measuring radioactive concentrations in foodstuffs, consumer goods, and fertilizers.
4. Calibration of laboratory testing systems (Alpha, Beta, Kama, KPA) using standard sources specific to each system.
5. Examining environmental models of soil and water throughout Iraq to study the level of natural radioactivity in Iraq.
6. Measuring imported and local food and consumer models and granting a radiation safety certificate.
7. Measuring various questionable models imported from different sites, liquidating nuclear facilities, nuclear medicine hospitals, and questionable sites, and granting a radiological examination certificate.
8. Measuring radioactivity in water (drinking, heavy, wells) to indicate that it is free of radioactive contamination, including heavy water received from nuclear medicine hospitals and health institutions, and comparing it with the permissible limits before releasing it.
9. Measurement of radon gas in soil, water and air.
10. Measure uranium concentrations in environmental and biological models and issue a radiological examination certificate.
